Surface marks and torn protection on pipe packs

Torn film may be caused by exposed ends, rough supports or movement in the bundle. Surface marks can reflect trapped grit, excessive pressure or an incompatible contact layer. Inspect the product after removal on a trial pack. Correct the source of abrasion and use appropriate protection rather than only applying additional film layers.

Locate the first point of damage before adding more layers. A rough support, exposed fastener or projecting pipe end may repeatedly cut through film. Inspect the route taken by the pack as well as the goods themselves.

For surface marks, compare wrapped and unwrapped areas and check for trapped particles. Inspect separators and other layers in contact with the product. A mark appearing under film does not by itself identify the film as its cause.

Trial the corrected support, edge protection or contact layer on representative goods. Remove the wrap after the relevant storage and handling sequence and inspect the surface. Record the successful arrangement so the same source of abrasion is not reintroduced.

Confirm your specification

Specify width, thickness, roll length or net material weight, core size, colour, packing, quantity and destination. Final dimensions and performance are confirmed by the sample and order.
